Hailing from the vibrant city of Barrie, Ontario, Austin Dodge is a local skater and sponsored fingerboarder who has carved out his place in the scene with style and precision. Known for his dedication to the craft, Austin’s journey began in the winter of 2018 with nothing more than an old Tech Deck and a bit of curiosity. Little did he know, that moment would spark a deep passion that would take him to the top of competitions and earn him sponsorship recognition.
Barrie, Ontario, located north of Toronto along the shores of Lake Simcoe, is known for its strong skateboarding community and local hubs that foster talent in both full-sized and fingerboard skateboarding. The city’s growing fingerboard scene has given Austin the perfect platform to showcase his skills and push the limits of what’s possible on a tiny deck.
As he progressed, Austin started crafting creative setups at home using books, binders, and tools as obstacles. It wasn’t long before he upgraded to his first pro fingerboard—a 34mm Berlinwood deck with black BRTs and Oak Wheels—and began catching the attention of the community through social media. His talent and consistency led to a sponsorship with KOYO Fingerboards, a respected local deck company.
Austin’s most memorable moment came on January 4, 2025, at the Missing Wax event at Freaky Wizard Café. Competing in a “best trick” contest on a WestondaleCustoms 5-stair tabletop, he confidently called out a switch flip backside noseblunt on the hubba—then landed it first try with absolute perfection. That legendary trick secured him 1st place, along with the coveted tabletop and some well-earned prizes.
With undeniable talent and a growing reputation, Austin Dodge is proving that Barrie is home to some serious fingerboard talent. Keep an eye on this cover skater—his journey is just getting started! -- axtn.fb
